Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) was an American actor, singer, and dancer. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. She received the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton is directing the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the nation's first impeachment proceedings over 100 Years. Two seasons ago, Ashford was the main character of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Additional Broadway roles for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned an Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was born in Denver is now based living in Los Angeles and New York.
